Back to the grind

Good morning,

Just ran a little over a mile just to keep the legs active and the training going. Woke up with hardly any soreness, thanks to keeping a heat pack on my lower back all night :) Can't stop, I have 5 more races this year!! My main focus is the philly half in November and to beat my time from last year.

Good morning soreness

Just woke up and my body aches everywhere :( I can tell I was not prepared for this run plus wearing a totally different brand of sneakers than I'm use to didn't help. I also have a blood blister under one of my toe nails...I'll save you the visual lol!! For me no matter how many people I pass on that run and no matter how many people pass me, I cross that finish line for me. The motivation comes deep within. Yes I achieved it!! Enjoy your day and let's get back out there!

Pre-race dinner

Staying at residents inn has afforded me to cook my own dinner. This will help with optimal running and no intestinal issues!!!

Great pre-race meal:

2 servings of brown rice pasta
2 servings of rotisserie chicken
Serving of broccoli
Serving of Pasta Sauce

The reality is setting in

Less than 24 hours away till my second half marathon. Picked up my number and shirt!! Here's hoping for great weather and a great run!!

Chickpea And Vegetable Quinoa

1 Can of Chickpeas
1 Cup of Quinoa
1 Cup of Broccoli Crowns
1/2 Cup of Chopped Red Pepper
1/2 Cup of Chopped Green Pepper
1/2 Cup of Chopped Onions
2 Cups of Water

Mix quinoa and water in saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add onion and bring to simmer on low for 15 mins. While waiting boil drained and rinsed chickpeas separately for 5 mins to help de shell chickpeas. In a frying pan cook peppers, broccoli, and de shelled chickpeas until crunchy. Once ready mix together and serve.

Serves 4

Clean Eating Pancakes

2 Eggs
1 Ripe Banana
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon Agave Syrup

Mash up the banana in a bowl. Add eggs and mix. Add cinnamon and agave syrup. Pour into frying pan for one big pancake or onto a griddle for 2 small pancakes.  Cook just like a pancake and enjoy!!

Wakey wakey

Of course, I over slept and ran out the door to yoga this morning :( and I left my concentration at home. I made the best of it though and almost face planted during a 3 legged chaturanga thanks to my foot slipping out. After laughing everything off, because that is what you are supposed to do, I treated myself to crescent moon coffee and did some grocery shopping. Grocery shopping is my therapy!! I love buying new food and I always get excited over what combinations I can make. After grocery shopping I stopped off at The Running Company for some gummies and bought a pair of socks because I can't pass up a sale, especially on running stuff. Now to kick my feet up and relax my body in prep for Sunday!!

Flyers game

Went to the flyers game tonight, amazing seats!!! The real disappointment was the lack of gluten free options at the game. The only gluten free beer available was redbridge :( and their gluten free choices were extremely limited. But as usual, I think ahead and brought my own trail mix.

Run till it hurts

Just completed a 4 mile run, not as far as I would like but the soreness in my shoulder and bicep said otherwise. Time to throw the heat pad on and relax the body. Need to be in top shape for this Sunday :)

Breakfast

Good morning everyone!! Today's breakfast is a dill and caraway omelet with a side of kale and tapioca toast.

Dinner

Serving of brown rice with dill and caraway seeds, organic chicken sausage and steamed broccoli and carrots. Dessert of course pineapple with dark cocoa powder. Enjoy!

Drenched in success!!!

The sweat poured and I endured. I loved every moment of class!!! If you just turn your mind off and let the breath push you through, amazing things can happen. Let the body do and learn. It's a great feeling!!

Heat me up!!!

I am about to take my second attempt at Hot Yoga!! I have been standoffish since my last unsuccessful attempt but I figure why not try again. Was I unfair to it before, because I gave up in class? 😧 Yes, it is only fair to try again and just do what I can. I believe that is what yoga is all about anyway. Push your body to what it can handle and no judgement. Namaste
